6 Rain Boots That Won't Leave You Clunking Around

The sky has turned into a kennel in Los Angeles, raining cats and dogs on our sun-loving, year-long tanned selves. It bums me out to have to wear the same clunky, childish rain boots that everyone else has, so here's some alternatives that'll keep your both dry and stylish. Even if we Angelenos have to wear them only one week a year, isn't it worth it to get something cool?
Jeffrey Campbell Voom Boots - $69.95, Nordstrom
Slender with a small wedge heel and sharp toe, these boots keep your feet dry AND look like normal leather boots.

Michael Kors Stormy Boot - $125, Revolve Clothing
Love this biker boot style that will have onlookers none the wiser. Also comes in classic black and a fatigue olive color.

Chanel Camellia Rain Boot - Price Varies, Everywhere
Adorable rain boots with a more pronounced heel that has the CC logo on the bottom. You'd be hard pressed to find some genuine Chanel ones as the internet is flooded with knockoffs as low as $100 up to $700. But if that doesn't bother you, eBay away!

Jimmy Choo / Hunter Croc Wellington Boots - $495, on sale as low as $197, Jimmy Choo
A collaboration between shoe god Jimmy Choo and classic British rain boot manufacturer Hunter (Choo had a collab with Uggs too! Shudder!). Although these boots have the traditional rain boot shape, the embrossed croc pattern and gold buckle makes for a chic alternative that won't have you sliding about on the rainy streets. They come in a ton of colors and two heights, plus everything but the classic black is on sale for more than 50% off right now!

Shuella Heel Covers - $12.50, Shuella.com
When work requires nice shoes, it's sometimes a drag to have haul your heels in your bag and switch out the rain boots for normal shoes. With Shuella heel covers you can wear your regular heels in the rain without ruining them. Although I wouldn't recommend them with stilettoes for the stabby effect, these covers are convenient and actually look pretty cool. Plus comes in tons of colors.

Angela 7'' Lace-Up Boots - $56.99, Susan's Shoes
If you wouldn't be caught dead in rain boots, let alone flats, I completely encourage the polar opposite: Sky-high lucite and vinyl stripper shoes a la Taylor Momsen & Lady Gaga. They'll give you the same water-resistance and likely keep you above the flood level.

OFFICIAL Daft Punk "Derezzed" Music Video (Not TRON Trailer)

Independent of the TRON: Legacy trailer, Daft Punk has dropped an official music video for their song "Derezzed" off of the upcoming TRON soundtrack releasing Decemeber 17th. Breakthroughs in CGI, music videos, clothing collections, pop-up shops, even ElecTRONica--an entire nightlife section at Disney's California Adventures park complete with djs, dancefloors, TRON go-go dancers, laser demos and of course, glowing drinks--the TRON film release has no option other than being a resounding success.

5 Seriously Disappointing Holiday Gift Ideas

Holiday gifts aren't always the easiest thing to shop for: There's the spoof gift, the generic gift, the guaranteed gift ($$) and the "ummm" gift. Browsing around the internet for some online shopping, I've come across some pretty interesting things that maybe I personally wouldn't buy, but I still admire and respect the creativity. But here's some gift ideas I've come across that inspire nothing but utter disappointment, second glances and spit takes. At least a goof gift is kind of funny for a second, and maybe the receiver can wear/use it once, but these will absolutely gather dust/be thrown away.
Bejeweled Mini Stapler - $3.80, Forever 21
I feel so terrible for the perhaps hundreds of children and teens that will get this in their stocking. It's like putting glitter on a jury summons.

World's Largest Gummy Worm - $35, Urban Outfitters
Do I really need to explain this?

Colorblocked Crotch Chaos: Ruffeo Hearts Lil Snotty

As nonsensical as it's name, Brooklyn-based clothing line Ruffeo Hearts Lil Snotty's has taken colorblocking to an extreme, describing themselves as, "a fantasy fabricated from a lonely stoney pony rescued from the swamp of sadness like lickety-split, miracle whipp'n maiden, lil' Genius unit." Surely, they are geniuses when it comes to units.
I was first drawn to their line on Etsy with their delectable FUCK manties (man panties) and was further pulled in by the accompanying FUCK dress--I guess I was having a pretty aggro online shopping day. Six pages of colorblock later, I couldn't believe just how many variants they had of the same design principle: underwear, hoodies, leggings, tunics, dresses, tops, bathing suits and body suits all using a colorful geometric patchwork. Good luck figuring out what they're about, RHLS' Etsy Featured Seller interview is space case absurd. From their brief bio, all pieces are handmade in Brooklyn with a small team lead by designers Mackswell and Sarah using dead stock or Mom and Pop-made local fabrics (as much as possible). The designers also have a regular segment on the Threadbanger podcast that offers sewing tutorials and open source patterns.
There's no denying the obvious similarities between RHLS and geo-patchwork prince Brian Lichtenberg. But what distinguishes RHLS is just how, well, silly they are. Just take a look at their photos: hairy, muffin-topped Brooklyn hipsters, performing arts high school art direction and an overall sense of the whole process being fun. Most lines strive to be have that same striking, suffering, brooding or hyper-sexualized innocence that is the standard in the fashion world, but RHLS dares to be what fashion fears most: not being serious. It actually looks like these kids have fun for fun's sake, not it some pretentious ironic way.
